Some of that proportion is bad businesspeople engaging in price gouging. cf: my employer.

True. But that's also directly proportional to majority of people creating lousy products. Good work and good products are worth their weight in gold. Also you're the only person who uses Disqus. I'm changing the name from Disqus comments, to Derek comments!

i usually just send them to bandcamp, which has an HTML5 player. I've never had a mobile request, but if more people want one, then I'll consider it. But I imagine most don't want me to have a mobile site, versus those that do (at least as far as I've heard from people)

yea flash doesn't work on mobile. But if you've seen ANY mobile site, you'll quickly see that it strips out everything and is completely unfriendly. Mobile sites worked in 2004 with the blackberry's spinwheel and slow transfer rates, but today's smart phones are perfectly capable on surfing desktop sites, they're better and faster than most desktops were just a few years ago.

See, a usable player is the most compelling reason for a mobile site. Disclaimer: I don't have internet on my phone. Do flash players not work on mobile devices? Because that's what your all about. Getting your music out. If people can't listen to it and share it, that's a serious hurdle. If they do work, but it's more effort for the listener, then I don't have advice.

I agree - that's a big complaint I have with the embedded soundcloud players here on Tumblr. I also don't like how it's not HTML 5 - so it's impossible to play my music on your phone. Unless of course you load the mobile site - but mobile sites are the worst.

yea i totally agree. it's not having the forum i would mind, it's the upkeep. i remember my forum from years ago and it always had bugs, crashes, new users questions, etc. I can't do all that now. And judging from everyone's feedback, a forum wouldn't be a good idea here anyway.

A forum still has it's uses. But unless you're already getting people talking amongst themselves about things related to your work, but not your's specifically, I don't think it would be worth it. Maybe if you had a group that talked about overlapping and merging pop and classical genre's already it would. All in all, maintaining a forum is tedious.

thanks adam. i will hopefully never stop making music. i have a tight, and small, community - which i prefer over a large group that doesn't interact. so the comments help, and i encourage it.

It's always sort of depressing seeing blogs (mostly music blogs, either cover-reposts or (quasi)original new music like yours) not have any comments; makes me wonder - are people besides me actually reading them? Presumably, but I have no proof.

I'd say it's totally reasonable for you to post other things too, just as long as you don't stop also making music. :p

I, for one, am all for it! I think it would behoove both sides (you and your fans) to have a higher lever of interaction. If anybody complains, you can just add a tag to the text posts so people can Tumblr Savior them.
