I've never had a mobile request, but if more people want one, then I'll consider it. But I imagine most don't want me to have a mobile site, versus those that do (at least as far as I've heard from people)

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/21206570689

urgh. Then the question becomes, how does the ability of people to listen to your music away from the computer balance against the trouble of maintaining/using a mobile site?

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/21206570689

yea flash doesn't work on mobile. But if you've seen ANY mobile site, you'll quickly see that it strips out everything and is completely unfriendly. Mobile sites worked in 2004 with the blackberry's spinwheel and slow transfer rates, but today's smart phones are perfectly capable on surfing desktop sites, they're better and faster than most desktops were just a few years ago.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/21206570689

See, a usable player is the most compelling reason for a mobile site. Disclaimer: I don't have internet on my phone. Do flash players not work on mobile devices? Because that's what your all about. Getting your music out. If people can't listen to it and share it, that's a serious hurdle. If they do work, but it's more effort for the listener, then I don't have advice.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/21077520699

I agree - that's a big complaint I have with the embedded soundcloud players here on Tumblr. I also don't like how it's not HTML 5 - so it's impossible to play my music on your phone. Unless of course you load the mobile site - but mobile sites are the worst.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/21077520699

If only the soundcloud player could work as a link to the soundcloud page itself. That way people could find your other stuff easier.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20528756014

@dhstjean email me, i'm there with a group too. let's hang out!

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20414421650

I think sticking with the open comments would probably serve better than the forum

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20473164732

"Is everyone cool with that?"
Absolute 0, man.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20414421650

yea i totally agree. it's not having the forum i would mind, it's the upkeep. i remember my forum from years ago and it always had bugs, crashes, new users questions, etc. I can't do all that now. And judging from everyone's feedback, a forum wouldn't be a good idea here anyway.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20414421650

A forum still has it's uses. But unless you're already getting people talking amongst themselves about things related to your work, but not your's specifically, I don't think it would be worth it. Maybe if you had a group that talked about overlapping and merging pop and classical genre's already it would. All in all, maintaining a forum is tedious.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20377474597

I personally like it when a musican/arranger does personal posts, not just music. Presumably, but I have no proof.

I'd say it's totally reasonable for you to post other things too, just as long as you don't stop also making music. :p

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20377474597

I, for one, am all for it! I think it would behoove both sides (you and your fans) to have a higher lever of interaction. If anybody complains, you can just add a tag to the text posts so people can Tumblr Savior them.

Re: http://fororchestra.com/post/20377474597

ok then i will definitely do that!
